Quarrier Girls Golf Finishes 9th at Home Meet

The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls golf team hosted the Dell Rapids Invite at Rocky Run Golf Course on Tuesday, May 3rd.  Thirteen teams participated in the tournament.  Dell Rapids finished 9th with a total score of 417.

Abby Greenhoff finished sixth individually with a round of 88.  Jayme Schmidt finished with a round of 100.  Natalie Berg had a 111.  Avery Haskell had a round of 118.  Emma Taubert finished with a 121, and Haley Rydell had a round of 141.

Dell Rapids will be at the West Central Invitational on Monday, May 9th.

Mustang Girls Golf Team Finishes 13th in Second Meet of Season

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls golf team had their second meet of the season in Dell Rapids on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The Mustangs finished 13th as a team with a score of 499.

Stephanie Buchman finished with a round of 104.  Payton Oberg had a round of 128.  Ivy Haug finished with a 129, and Hillary Hastings had a round of 138.

Tri-Valley will be at the West Central Invitational on Monday, May 9th.

West Central Girls Golf 8th in Dell Rapids

The West Central Trojan girls golf team traveled to Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids for the Dell Rapids Invite on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The Trojans finished eighth out of 13 teams with team score of 413.

Lyric Riepma finished fifth individually with a round of 88.  Kaylee Olson had a 103.  Blaire Eberhard and Lauren Prchal both finished with rounds of 111.  Dakotah Johnson had a 115, and Morgyn Driscoll finished with 116.

The Trojans will host a triangular with Madison and Sioux Falls O’Gorman and then will host the West Central Invitational on Monday, May 9th.

Mustang Track Teams Finish 5th and 6th in Lennox

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls and boys track teams participated in the LenWood Invitational in Lennox on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The girls team finished sixth with a total of 48 points.  The boys team finished fifth with 88 team points.

Hailey McNamara was second in the long jump.  Brie Peters had a third place finish in the 1600m run.  The 4x100m relay team of Emry Jones, Maddie Wenzel, Paige Jewett, and Ella Richardson finished fourth.  The 4x200m relay team of McNamara, Wenzel, Jewett, and Richardson also finished fourth.  Hanna West was fourth in the triple jump.

Michael Beyer was first in the 110m hurdles and second in the 300m hurdles.  Connor Christensen won the shot put.  The 4x100m relay team of Jaden Siemonsma, Levi Langloss, Carter Sorenson, and Beyer placed first.  The sprint medley relay team of Eli McFardland, Austin McNulty, Cory McDonald, and Noah Haynes also won.  The 4x400m relay team of Dustin Sees, Sorenson, Haynes, and Beyer was second.  The 4x200m relay team of McNulty, Langloss, Brody Dybvig, and McFarland had a third place finish.  McFarland also placed third in the long jump.

Quarriers Finish 6th and 7th at LenWood Track Invitational

The Dell Rapids Quarrier track teams went to Lennox for the LenWood Invitational on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The boys team finished sixth with 49 points.  The girls team finished seventh with 45 points.

The girls 4x200m relay team of Sophia Godwin, Hanna VanOverbeke, Jenna Miller, and Kylee Fiddelke placed second.  Fiddelke also placed third in the 200m dash.  The 4x100m relay team of VanOverbeke, Godwin, Madysen VanOverbeke, and Fiddelke took third place.  Godwin had a fourth place finish in the 100m dash.  Clara Justice was fourth in the 100m hurdles.  Mackenzie Garry also had a fourth place finish in the shot put.

Jade Anstine was second in the 100m dash.  Gunnar Chamley was second in the discus.  The 4x200m relay team of Ian mason, Owen Nelson, Chase Jones, and Anstine was also second.  The sprint medley relay team of Braden Fersdahl, Justice, Grady Lamer, and John Mortrude placed third.

West Central Girls and Boys 2nd at Beresford Lions Club Track Meet

The West Central Trojan track teams traveled to Beresford for the Beresford Lions Club Meet on Tuesday, May 3rd.  The girls team finished second with a team score of 134.  Canton won the girls title with 149 points.  The West Central boys team also finished second with 150.5 points.  Brandon Valley won the boys title with 166 points.

Molli Thornton won the 200m dash and the long jump.  Alexa Borns took first in the 400m dash.  The 4x200m relay team of Thornton, Lily Sidel, Emma Goehring, and Sadie Berg also placed first.  Aubrey Borns took second in the 1600m and 3200m runs.  The 4x100m relay team of Thornton, Sidel, Rylee Haldeman, and Goehring also finished second.

Gunnar Cuka placed first in the long jump and triple jump and also finishes second in the high jump.   Four relay teams also took first for West Central.  The 4x100m relay (Justin Zirpel, Tommy Berg, Braden Dierickx, Mason Berens), the 4x200m relay (Berens, Wyatt Nielsen, Berg, Layton Johnson), the 4x400m relay (Nielsen, Carter Schmeichel, Jude Jarding, Johnson), and the sprint medley relay (Zirpel, Berens, Johnson, Jarding) all took the top spot.

Early Lead Lifts West Central Baseball to Win over Lennox

The West Central High School club baseball team scored seven runs in the first three innings as they held for an 11-7 win over Lennox on Friday, April 29th.

The first two runs for West Central came with two outs in the top of the first inning.  Duece Sherrard scored on a wild pitch, and Caden Alfson hit an RBI single.  The Trojans added four more runs in the top of the second.  Gavin Koch had an RBI triple, Sherrard followed with an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch, and Alfson added his second RBI single.  Zach Madsen had an RBI single in the top of the third, and West Central lead 7-0 heading into the bottom of the third.

Lennox scored three times in their half of third inning making the score 7-3.  Jack Linneman had an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning for West Central, and the score remained 8-3 until the bottom of the sixth inning.  Lennox scored two more times, and the Trojans led 8-5 going into the final inning.  West Central scored three more times in the top of the seventh.  Lennox scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally ended there.

Alfson had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Sherrard also had three hits and an RBI.  Madsen had two hits and two RBIs.  Grafton Stroup and Ben Sebert both had two singles.  Koch had a triple and RBI.  Linneman had a hit and an RBI.  Andrew Zimmer and Logan Maras both had singles as well.  Madsen pitched five innings to earn the win giving up three runs, all unearned, on three hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  Stroup pitched two innings allowing four runs, one earned, on one hit and four walks with three strikeouts.

Trojan Girls Golf Team Wins Home Triangular

The West Central Trojan girls golf team hosted a triangular with Lennox and Beresford on Thursday, April 28th. The Trojans finished with a team score of 386. Lennox had a score of 419, and Beresford finished with 423.

Dakotah Larson finished second individually with a round of 89. Morgyn Driscoll was fourth with a 96. Blaire Eberhard was fifth at 99. Kaylee Olson finished sixth with a 102, and Lyric Riepma was seventh with a 103. Lauren Pchal finished at 120. Ada Strunk had a 148, and Madysen Roth finished with 152.

Trojan Track Teams Both Second at Terry Bong Invite

Both the West Central Trojan girls and boys track teams finished second at the Terry Bong Invite in Canton on Thursday, April 28th.  The girls team finished with 139 points.  The boys team finished with 164 points, just seven points behind first place Lennox.

Sadie Berg took first place in the 200m dash.  The 4x100m relay team of Emma Goehring, Molli Thornton, Rylee Haldeman and Lily Sidel placed first.  The 4x200m relay team of Goehring, Alexa Borns, Sidel, and Thornton also placed first.  Thornton won the triple jump event.

Benjamin Strunk won the 1600m run.  Griffin Stallman was first in the 3200m run.  The 4x200m relay team of Jesse Jost, Braden Dierickx, Tommy Berg, and Layton Johnson took home first.  The 4x400m relay team of Wyatt Nielsen, Carter Schmeichel, Jude Jarding, and Johnson also won.  Dylan Stromer won the high jump, and Gunnar Cuka was first in triple jump.

Cardinal Girls 11th, Boys 7th at Gene Danielsen Relays

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal track teams traveled to McCook Central High School for the Gene Danielsen Relays on Tuesday, April 26th.  The girls team finished 11th with nine points.  The boys team finished seventh with 32 points.

The 4x200m relay team of Ella Griffin, Maya Heinitz, Addison Libis, and Brianna Griffin finished third.  The 4x100m relay team of Heinitz, Libis, B. Griffin, and Ella Griffin finished fifth.  The 4x400m relay team of Heinitz, E. Griffin, Libis, and B. Griffin finished sixth.  Madala Hanson (200m dash and long jump), Heinitz (400m dash), Libis (300m hurdles), and Jaycee Tebay (shot put) all had seventh place finishes.  B. Griffin placed eighth in the 100m dash, and Lucy Vargas was eighth in the 1600m run.

Lucas Flemmer won both  the 100m dash and the 200m dash.  Flemmer also placed third in the 400m dash and seventh in the long jump.  Nic Gaspar was fourth in the 300m hurdles, seventh in the 200m dash, and seventh in the high jump.  John Pica was fifth in the discus, and Gabriel Lindeman finished eighth in the shot put.
