West Central Football Cruises to Season Opening Win

The West Central Trojan football team cruised to a 37-0 season-opening win over the Dakota Valley Panthers at home on Friday, August 28th.

The first points for the Trojans didn’t come until 4:39 to play in the opening quarter.  John Goehring gave West Central a 3-0 lead with a 40-yard field goal.  Beckett Everson connected with Keenan Hackett on a 67-yard touchdown pass with 1:26 to go in the quarter.  The extra point was no good, but the Trojans led 9-0.  West Central added one more score before halftime.  Boche Knight had an eight-yard touchdown run.  Goehring made the extra point to make the score 16-0.

The offense kept rolling in the second half.  Carson Eich had a 37-yard punt return for a touchdown after the punt was deflected by one of his teammates.  Goehring made another extra point to extend the lead to 23-0.  Chase Stromer found the end zone with 7:42 to go in the third quarter on a 15-yard touchdown run.  The made extra point made the score 30-0.  The final score came with 10:27 to play in the game.  Braylon Robbins had a one-yard run, and Goehring added another extra point for a 37-0 final score.
