The West Central Trojan boys wrestling team finished in a tie for second at the Region 1A meet in Dell Rapids on Saturday, February 21st. The Trojans and Brookings finished with 194.5 points each. Watertown had the top team spot with 244 points.
Caden Roe (106), Kaden Haakinson (113), and Bentley Klinkhammer (120) all took the region titles in their respective weight classes. Karson Vessells (126), Brody Gossen (132), and Langdon Klinkhammer (144) all had second-place finishes.
Alex Siemonsma placed third in the 138-pound class. Grayson Pischke (150), Jett Whiting (165), and Luke Larson (215) all finished fourth. Hayden Whiting (157) had a fifth-place finish. Kash Garry (285) was 0-2 for the day.
The 2026 South Dakota High School Activities Association State Championships will be held in Sioux Falls on Thursday, February 26th through Saturday, February 28th.
