The #3 ranked West Central Trojans hosted the #2 ranked Lennox Orioles in a top 3 battle on Friday, October 2nd. The Trojans scored the first 17 points of the game to lead them to a 24-12 victory.
Boche Knight put the Trojans on the board with 9:15 to go in the first quarter on a four-yard run. John Goehring made the extra point for a 7-0 lead. That was the only score of the first quarter. West Central added to the lead with 9:23 to go in the second quarter. Dylan Bettcher made a great catch through a pass interference call on a pass from Beckett Everson for a 27-yard touchdown. Goehring added another extra point to make the score 14-0. The Trojans would enter halftime with the 14-0 lead.
Goehring would put more points on the board with 7:20 to go in the third quarter. He had no problem with a 30-yard field goal to put West Central ahead 17-0. Lennox would find the end zone with 4:09 to go in the quarter on a two-yard run. Their two-point conversion attempt was no good leaving the score 17-6.
Everson would add another passing touchdown with 10:57 to go in the game. This time he connected with Cooper Ball from 26 yards away. Goehring made the extra point to put the Trojans ahead 24-6. The Orioles got another score on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 6:32 to play in the game. Another failed two-point conversion kept the score at 24-12. Lennox forced a turnover on downs with 2:52 remaining in the game, but their drive stalled and also ended on a turnover on downs with 0:18 to go. The Trojans kneeled down to end the game.
