Trojans Hold off Mitchell After Exciting Third Quarter

The West Central Trojan football team held off the Mitchell Kernels for a 34-20 road win after an exciting third quarter on Friday, September 25th.

Boche Knight put the Trojans on the board after a 13-yard touchdown run with 3:58 to go in the first quarter.   The score remained 6-0 until late in the second quarter.   Cooper Ball added a three-yard touchdown run with 1:00 to play in the half.  The extra point was good John Goehring to give the Trojans a 13-0 lead going into halftime.

West Central added to their lead in less than a minute on the first drive of the second half.  Braylon Robbins had a three-yard touchdown run with 11:07 to play in the third quarter.  Goehring made the extra point to extend the lead to 20-0.  Mitchell got on the board with a 67-yard touchdown pass and extra point with 8:28 to go in the third quarter to make the score 20-7.

Beckett Everson found Robbins for a seven-yard touchdown pass with 4:45 remaining in the quarter.  Goehring made another extra point to push the lead back to 20 points 27-7.  The Kernels had a 14-yard touchdown pass with 2:34 to go.  The made extra point made the score 27-14.  Mitchell then recovered an onside kick.  They would find the end zone again with 0:48 to go in the quarter on a 33-yard pass.  The extra point was no good keeping the score at 27-20.

Knight would score his second touchdown of the night with 6:58 to play in the game on a 13-yard run.  Goehring made another extra point to give the Trojans 34-20 lead.  The defense would make one more stop, and then the offense would run out the clock for the win.
