The Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks picked up two more wins in their last two games. They got a win over the Flandreau Blue Teal on Thursday, July 16th and a win over Salem on Sunday, July 19th.
Gamecocks 12, Flandreau Blue Teal 2
Neither team scored in the opening inning, but the Gamecocks scored five times in the top of the second to take a 5-0 lead. They scored another run in the top of the third. The Blue Teal cut the lead to 6-2 after two runs on the bottom of the third. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Gamecocks got two more runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to push the lead to 11-2. They got one more run in the top of the ninth.
Blake Svoboda had a double and home run with two RBIs. Broc Haldeman picked up two singles and two RBIs. Cam Quiglley had two hits with an RBI. Chad Morrison also had two hits. Gunnar Alfson had a home run and two RBIs. Drew Talberg added a double with an RBI. Jonah Rechtenbaugh ended with a single and an RBI. Devon Garry and Adam Hentges each had a hit.
Gamecocks 7, Salem 3
Early runs were enough for the Gamecocks to get a win over the Cubs on Sunday. Humboldt/Hartford took a big lead with a five-run bottom of the second. They extended the lead to 6-0 with a run in the bottom of the third. The score remained 6-0 until the top of the sixth. The Cubs scored two times in the sixth to make the score 6-2. The Gamecocks got one run back in the bottom of the seventh to push the score to 7-2. Salem scored just one more time in the top of the eighth.
Quigley had two hits, one a double, with two RBIs. Hunter Den Boer had two singles and two RBIs. Kyle Konechne ended with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Chad Morrison had two hits. Haldeman had a single with an RBI. Joe Hanisch, Hentges, and Landry Knight all had one hit each. Cooper Maras ended with an RBI. JD Kirchner pitched five innings and allowed two hits and four walks with eight strikeouts. Knight tossed four innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits with three strikeouts.
