The Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks ran their winning streak to four games with two wins in their previous two games. They defeated the Madison Broncos on Thursday, July 16th and then the Baltic River Dawgs on Sunday, July 19th.
Wood Ducks 3, Madison 1
Three pitchers combined to allow just one run on eight hits for the Wood Ducks in their 3-1 win over Madison. Loren Jacobson gave Hartford/Humboldt a 1-0 lead with an RBI ground out in the bottom of the first. CJ Den Boer scored on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 2-0. Brayden Odegaard had an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 3-0. Madison scored their lone run in the top of the seventh.
Odegaard finished with two hits and an RBI. Curtis Flint also had two hits. Chad Hunt had a single and an RBI. Logan Larsen and Drew Eldeen both had one hit each. Eldeen also pitched six innings and allowed six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Larsen tossed an inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and walk. Flint pitched two innings and struck out three batters.
Wood Ducks 15, River Dawgs 4
A late rally led to the 11-run win for the Wood Ducks over Baltic. Hartford/Humboldt got a single run in both the first and second innings for a 2-0 lead. Baltic scored a run in the bottom of the third. Each team scored a run in the fourth, and the Wood Ducks led 3-2. Hartford/Humboldt would then have a seven-run top of the fifth to push their lead to 10-2. Baltic scored a couple of runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 10-4. The Wood Ducks then scored a run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to end the game on the 10-run rule after the bottom of the seventh inning.
Eldeen had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Odegaard had a single and double with two RBIs. Brodie Herr added two singles and two RBIs. Andrew Zimmer had a triple and two RBIs. Jacob Ellens had a hit and an RBI. Ben Honkomp had a hit. Larsen and Keaton Vessells each had an RBI. Honkomp pitched four innings and allowed three earned runs on four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Vessells pitched three innings and allowed an earned run on four hits with four strikeouts.
