Another Late Rally Keeps West Central Baseball Undefeated

West Central put together another late rally to remain undefeated on the season.  This time West Central rallied to take an 11-6 win over Groton.

Groton scored two right away in the top of the first for an early 2-0 lead.  Nick Lorang had an RBI single, and Gunnar Alfson stole home in the bottom of the first to tie the score 2-2.  Beckett Everson added an RBI double in the bottom of the third.  JT Steckley also had an RBI double and then scored on an error to give West Central a 5-2 lead.

Groton pulled within a run, 5-4, with two runs in the top of the fifth.  Hayden Whiting and CJ Den Boer earned bases-loaded walks to push their lead back three runs, 7-4.  Groton picked up two runs in the top of the sixth to get within one again, 7-6.  Steckley had an RBI double, Eli Koehn added an RBI single, and then both of them scored on a wild pitch to make the score 11-6.

Steckley had two doubles and two RBIs.  Everson had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Den Boer and Koehn both had two singles and an RBI.  Alfson ended with a single and a double.  Lorang added a single and an RBI.  Hayes Cain had a single, and Whiting had an RBI.

Taten Van Overbeke pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on two hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Cain pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed an earned run on two hits with four strikeouts.
