A seventh-inning rally fell one run short as West Central 16U fell to Dell Rapids 4-3 on Monday, July 15th.
West Central scored in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Dell Rapids would tie the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. The score remained tied 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning. Dell Rapids scored three times to go ahead 4-1. West Central rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh and had the bases loaded with two outs, but a pop out to the pitcher ended the game.
Langdon Klinkhammer had two hits, one a double. Keaton Vessells had a double and two RBIs. Taten VanOverbeke had a single with an RBI. CJ DenBoer added a double. Hayes Cain, JT Steckley, and Ashton Gebhard all had one hit each. Gebhard pitched four innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Jerrico Klein pitched two innings and allowed three unearned runs on two walks with two strikeouts.
