The West Central JV baseball team finished 0-4 at the 2026 SD VFW JV State Tournament hosted by Clear Lake and Estelline Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd..
Platte 12, West Central 0 – Pool Play, Saturday
West Central was held to just one hit in their first pool-play game of the day on Saturday. Platte scored two runs in the first, six in the second, and four more in the third for the 12-0 win.
Liam Carpenter had the lone hit in the game for West Central.
Tri-Valley 12, West Central 4 – Pool Play, Saturday
West Central held an early 2-0 lead with two runs scored in the bottom of the first inning. Tri-Valley cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the second. They would take the lead, 5-2, with four runs in the top of the fourth. West Central got one run back in the bottom of the inning to make the score 5-3. Tri-Valley pulled away with a seven-run top of the fifth. West Central only scored one run in the bottom of the fifth.
Jett Whiting had two hits in the game. Archer Thomsen and Carpenter each had a hit with an RBI. Brenden Warne ended with a single as well.
Britton 13, West Central 1 – Pool Play, Saturday
In the final pool-play game on Saturday, West Central scored their run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Britton scored five times in the bottom of the inning to go in front 5-1. They added four runs in the second and four more runs in the third for the win.
Whiting had two hits, one of those a double. Carpenter ended with a single and an RBI.
Flandreau 10, West Central 0 – Bracket Play, Sunday
West Central was held to just one hit in their bracket-play game against Flandreau on Sunday. Flandreau scored two times in the bottom of the first and three more in the second for a 5-0 lead. They added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth and scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Isaac Whiting had a single in the game.
