West Central 16U Suffers First League Loss

West Central 16U suffered their first I-29 League loss on Monday, July 1st.  Flandreau defeated West Central 7-2 in Humboldt.

Flandreau got a run in the top of the first inning.  The score remained 1-0 until the top of the fourth.  Flandreau added another run in the top of the fourth and then two more in the fifth for a 4-0 lead.  West Central scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth.  Flandreau scored three more runs in the top of the seventh, while West Central had a run in the bottom of the inning.

West Central was held to just two hits in the game.  Jacob Mallinger and Hayes Cain each had a single.  Taten VanOverbeke pitched six innings and allowed seven runs, three earned, on eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Jerrico Klein pitched one inning and struck out two batters.
