The West Central 16U baseball team remained unbeaten after a 12-6 win in Elkton on Monday, June 24th.
Each team scored a run in the first inning. After a scoreless second inning, West Central scored four times in the top of the third. Elkton got half of those runs back to cut the lead to 5-3. West Central then scored two times in the top of the fourth and then four more in top of the fifth for an 11-3 lead. Elkton scored two times in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 11-5. Each team scored another run in the the sixth inning.
Zach Lorang had two hits and two RBIs. Nick Lorang also had two singles. CJ DenBoer finished with a triple and two RBIs. Ashton Gebhard added a single and two RBIs. JT Steckley had a single and an RBI. Taten VanOverbeke also had a single. Andrew Hotlzman had an RBI. Jerrico Klein pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on a hit and five walks with one strikeout. Gebhard threw two innings and allowed three earned runs on a hit and six walks with two strikeouts. VanOverbeke pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.
