Alfson Powers West Central Baseball to Win

The West Central high school baseball team won their first game of the season at home on Friday, April 12th.  West Central, lead by Caden Alfson’s bat, hosted Flandreau and took the win 7-1.

Alfson put West Central on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run.  Alfson added a solo home run in the bottom of the third to increase the lead to 3-0.  Flandreau cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the fifth inning.  West Central put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Hayes Cain had an RBI sacrifice fly, and Maison Schuldt scored on an error.  Alfson brought home two more runs with a double.

Alfson had three of the five hits, two home runs and a double, along with five RBIs.  Cain had a single and an RBI.  Anthony Lanham added a single.  Landen Holewa pitched four innings without allowing a hit with three walks and six strikeouts.  Hayden Whiting pitched one inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and two walks.  Alfson pitched two innings walking one and striking out two.
