The West Central Trojans used a big first half on their way to a 45-13 quarterfinal win over the Chamberlain Cubs at home on Thursday, October 26th.
The Trojans used two big plays early in the first quarter. They scored on a 71-yard rushing touchdown and then had a interception return for a touchdown. Both two-point conversions were successful, and the Trojans led 16-0. The Cubs got on the board later in the quarter on a one-yard touchdown run. West Central got a 14-yard touchdown run before the end of the quarter, and the Trojans led 24-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The offense kept rolling for the Trojans in the second quarter. They scored on three runs of 12 yards, 47 yards, and 45 yards. West Central made one two-point conversion and one extra point for a 45-6 lead at halftime. Chamberlain got one more touchdown in the third quarter on an eight-yard run.
West Central had 362 yards of offense, all on the ground. Chamberlain had five turnovers in the game, three interceptions and two fumbles.
The Trojans will host Lennox in the 11A semifinals on Friday, November 3rd.
