Winner Snaps Trojan Winning Streak

The West Central Trojans had their six-game winning steak snapped at home on Friday, October 6th.  The Trojans hosted the Winner Warriors, and the Warriors kept the Trojan offense off the field almost the entire second half in their 28-0 victory.

Winner scored on a one-yard touchdown run with 5:55 to go in the first quarter.  A made two-point conversion gave them an early 8-0 lead.  The Warriors added another one-yard touchdown run with 2:35 to go in the half extending the lead to 14-0.

Winner received the kickoff to start the second half and ran almost ten minutes off the clock in the first drive of the third quarter.  The drive ended with a five-yard touchdown run with 2:14 remaining in the third quarter for a 20-0 lead.  The Warriors then recovered the kickoff after the touchdown to get the ball right back.  They would score on that drive on a one-yard run with 8:30 remaining in the game.  A made two-point conversion gave Winner a 28-0 lead, and West Central’s offense had yet to touch the ball in the second half.  The Trojans finally got their offense on the field in the fourth quarter, but the one and only drive of the half ended in an interception.  Winner was able to run the clock to zero for the win.

The Trojans had just 86 yards of total offense, 13 rushing yards and 73 passing yards.  The Warriors finished with 257 yards of offense, all of them on the ground.

Aiden Bartmann had six carries for 26 yards, add Jesse Jost had two carries for 10 yards.  Caden Alfson finished 7-14 passing for 73 yards and an interception.  Crew Heier had four catches for 45 yards.  Layton Johnson had two catches for 13 yards.  Chandler Carda had 13 tackles on defense.  Karsen Wilde finished with seven tackles, and Benjamin Vuonghad five tackles.
