Regular Season Ends for West Central Blue 14U

The West Central Blue 14U finished their regular season with a 14-2 record after finishing 1-1 in their final two games of the year.  They traveled to Dell Rapids on Wednesday, July 5th and then had a road game against Madison White on Friday, July 7th.

Dell Rapids 3, West Central Blue 1

West Central gave up two runs to Dell Rapids in the bottom of the fifth inning that broke a 1-1 tie.  Eli Koehn had an RBI ground out that scored a run in the top of the second inning, but Dell Rapids tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning.  The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth when Dell Rapids scored two times.

West Central Blue did not have a hit in the game, but Koehn finished with an RBI.  Alex Siemonsma pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts.  Ashton Gebhardt pitched two innings and allowed an earned run on four hits with one strikeout.  Taten VanOverbeke pitched an inning and allowed two hits and a walk.

West Central Blue 15, Madison White 9

A 10-run top of the sixth inning was key to victory for West Central against Madison White on Friday.  Madison scored a run in the first and second inning for a 2-0 lead.  West Central cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the third.  They went ahead with three runs in the top of the fifth and then scored 10 times in the top of the sixth for a 14-2 lead.  Madison avoided the 10-run rule with a seven-run bottom of the sixth to make the score 14-9.  West Central got one more run in the top of the seventh.

Gebhardt had three hits and two RBIs.  JT Steckley also had three hits with an RBI.  Maddax Jackson had a double and an RBI.  Koehn and Braxton Huber each had a single and an RBI.  Dylan Bettcher added a double.  Hayes Cain and Aiden Lueth each had a single.  VanOverbeke and Siemonsma both had an RBI.  Bettcher pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed a hit and two walks with a strikeout.  Steckley pitched 1 2/3 inning and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.  Siemonsma pitched an inning and allowed a hit with one strikeout.  Cain also threw an inning and allowed seven runs, four earned, on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
