Wood Ducks Drop Two to Madison

The Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks lost both games of a double header against Madison on Sunday, June 25th.  The Broncos won by scores of 17-1 and 4-2.

Madison 17, Wood Ducks 1

Two big innings gave the Madison Broncos a win in the first game.  They scored six runs in the first and eight in the third for a 14-0 lead.  The Wood Ducks got their lone run in the bottom of the fourth.  Madison added three more in the top of the fifth.

JJ Jesson had a double.  Carter Halverson and Jacob Ellens each had a single.  Logan Larsen had the RBI.  Nathan Adrian pitched two innings and allowed 14 runs, seven earned, on nine hits and four walks.  Austin King pitched one inning and allowed three earned runs on two hits and three walks with a strikeout.  Jesson pitched two innings and allowed three walks and had three strikeouts.

Madison 4, Wood Ducks 2

The Wood Ducks had a lead two times in the game, but Madison used a three-run sixth inning to secure a 4-2 win.  Hartford/Humboldt broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fourth.  Madison tied the game with a run in the bottom half of the inning.  The Wood Ducks again took the lead with a run in the top of the fifth.

Brodie Herr had two hits.  King finished with a double.  Adrian, Calvin Webb, and Rayce Whiting all had a single.  Halverson finished with an RBI.  Larsen pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Clint DenBoer pitched one inning and allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits.
