The Dell Rapids Mudcats hit three home runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back in a 16-1 win over the Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks on Thursday, June 15th.
Dell Rapids scored four times in the top of the first, two in the second, three in the fifth, and then seven in the sixth inning. The Wood Ducks got their lone run in the bottom of the first. JJ Jesson had an RBI single bringing home Braden Herr.
Herr had a double, and Jesson finished with a single and RBI. Jacob Ellens pitched five innings allowing 13 runs, 12 earned, on 15 hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Chase Vessells pitched one inning and allowed three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout.
