The West Central Trojans finished their 2022 regular season with a road win at the Milbank Bulldogs on Thursday, October 20th. The Trojans actually trailed 6-2 at the end of the first quarter, but scored 32 straight points the rest of the game for the win. West Central scored 20 points in the second quarter and lead 22-6 at halftime. The Trojans scored the final 12 points in the final quarter.
Justin Zirpel finished 23-28 passing for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Cade VanderWoude was 2-2 passing for 12 yards. Dylan Sherard had four catches for 15 yards and a touchdown. Owen Heath had three catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Dylan Stromer had three catches for 45 yards. Jesse Jost also had three catches for 38 yards, and Crew Heier had three catches for 22 yards.
Aiden Bartmann led the ground attack with 16 carries for 112 yards. Jost had 10 carries for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Zirpel finished with six carries for 31 yards.
Stromer had eight tackles to lead the team. Wyatt Nielsen, Chet Carda, Caden Hall, Dalton Mulder, Heath, Jude Jarding, and Carsen Berends all had four tackles each. Heier finished with three tackles. Stromer also finished the game with two interceptions.
West Central enters the 2022 11A playoffs as the #2 seed. They will host the Madison Bulldogs on Thursday, October 27th.
