The West Central Trojan football team finished Homecoming week with a big 33-0 win over the Vermillion Tanagers on Friday, September 16th.
Despite the big win, the Trojans were held scoreless in the first quarter. The teams ended the quarter tied 0-0. West Central got on the board with 6:29 in the second quarter on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Justin Zirpel to Deuce Sherard. Cambell Fischer made the extra point for a 7-0 lead. That was the only score of the first half, and West Central led 7-0 at halftime.
Zirpel had a five-yard touchdown run with 4:06 to play in the third quarter. Fischer made the extra point to push the lead to 14-0. Aiden Bartmann added a two-yard touchdown run with just under :40 to play in the quarter, and the Trojans led 20-0 at the end of the third quarter.
Zirpel and Sherard connected again with under ten minutes to play in the game on a 43-yard touchdown pass. The extra point was good by Fischer making the score 27-0. Cade VanderWoude had a two-yard touchdown pass to Owen Heath with 5:33 left in the game for a 33-0 score.
