Mustang Football Gets Third Straight Shutout Win

After losing the first game of the season to Winner, the Tri-Valley Mustang football team has not allowed a point in their last three games.  The latest shutout came at Sisseton on Friday, September 9th.  The Mustangs dominated in all phases of the game in a 52-0 win.

Carter Sorenson opened the scoring on a 49-yard touchdown run with 6:27 in the first quarter.  Hayden Hastings followed with a four-yard touchdown run with 1:59 to play.  After both touchdowns Tri-Valley converted the two-point conversion for a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Mustangs found the endzone four times in the second quarter.  Colby Carruthers had a five-yard touchdown run.  Sorenson scored again on a seven-yard run.  Brody Dybvig added a 64-yard touchdown run, and Holden Rise had a one-yard touchdown run.  Tri-Valley converted three of the four two-point conversions and led 46-0 at halftime.

Tri-Valley ended the game on the 50-point mercy rule after a 40-yard touchdown run by Landyn Reiser with 0:59 left in the third quarter.

The defense had six takeaways in the game, two of them interceptions and four fumble recoveries.

Tri-Valley will have a bye on Friday, September 16th.  They will be back in action at home against Mt Vernon/Plankinton on Friday, September 23rd.
