Titans Snap Mustang Three-Game Winning Streak

The Tri-Valley Mustang football team had their three-game winning streak snapped at home against the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Friday, September 23rd.  The Titans remained undefeated with a 32-6 win.

Mt Vernon/Plankinton got the first touchdown of the game with just a minute to play in the first quarter on a 74-yard run.  The two-point conversion was good.  Tri-Valley got within two points with 6:00 to play in the second quarter.  Colby Carruthers had a one-yard touchdown run.  The two-point conversion was no good, and the score was 8-6.

The Titans, however, scored two more times before halftime.  The first score came on a 63-yard touchdown run with 5:25 left in the half.  They scored again with :45 to play on a 10-yard touchdown run.  Both times the two-point conversion was good, and the Titans led 24-6 at halftime.  Mt Vernon/Plankinton got one more score with 2:00 to go in the third quarter on a 36-yard run.

Tri-Valley finished with just 119 yards of total offense, 98 rushing yards and 21 passing yards.  The Titans had 415 yards of offense, 404 rushing yards and 11 passing yards.  The Titans also had 19 first downs compared to just five for the Mustangs.

Eli McFarland was 3-7 passing for 21 yards.  Carter Sorenson had a catch for 13 yards.  Trey Johnson had a catch for five yards, and Hayden Hastings had a catch for three yards.  McFarland also had eight carries for 54 yards.  Carruthers finished with five carries for 13 yards and a touchdown.  Carruthers also had 8.5 tackles.  Tyler Groenewald had 7.5 tackles.  Isaac Nehlich finished with 6.5 tackles.  Mason Hendrixson, Dustin Sees, and Sorenson all had three tackles each.
