Late Runs Secure Win for Tri-Valley 17U over Volga

The Tri-Valley 17U baseball team scored four times in the top of the seventh to secure a 9-4 win in Volga on Wednesday, July 1st.

Each team scored a run in the opening inning.  Lawson Schneiderman had an RBI single, and Parker Atwood had a bases-loaded walk in the top of the second to put Tri-Valley ahead 3-1.  Each team would score a run in the fourth inning, and Tri-Valley led 4-2 after four innings of play.

Dante Nehman delivered an RBI double in the top of the fifth to extend the Tri-Valley lead to 5-2.  Volga rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within a run, 5-4.  In the top of the seventh, Patrick Tromblee scored on a passed ball, Nehman scored on an error, Schneiderman scored on a passed ball, and Cooper Durick also scored on a passed ball to make the score 9-4.

Nehman had three hits, including two doubles, and an RBI.  Schneiderman had two hits, one a double, and an RBI.  Abbott Moeller also had two hits with an RBI.  Evan Focken and Gerrit Koopman both had two hits each.  Atwood had a hit and two RBIs.  Durick added a double, and Reed Smith had an RBI.

Smith pitched five innings and allowed two runs, both unearned, on three hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts.  Moeller pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk with one strikeout.
