Fliers Rally in Sixth Inning to Defeat Tri-Valley

The Tri-Valley Mustangs held a lead going into the sixth inning, but the Flandreau Fliers rallied and took an 11-8 win over the Mustangs on Tuesday, May 2nd.

The Mustangs scored one in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead.  Erika Beck had an RBI single.  Flandreau got two runs in the bottom of the first to lead 2-1.  Tri-Valley put four runs on the board in the top of the second.  Corie Wicks had a steal of home, and Emery Pearson had a three-run inside-the-park home run to center field for a 5-2 advantage.  The Fliers got one run back in the second, but Tri-Valley led 5-3 after two innings.

Flandreau cut the lead to 5-4 after another run in the bottom of the third inning.  The Mustangs added to their lead with three in the top of the fourth.  Alayna Ebert, Lillian Schlueter, and Pearson all stole home to push the lead to 8-4.  The Fliers scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-5.  Flandreau took the lead with a six-run sixth inning and went ahead 11-8.

Pearson had a home run and three RBIs. Beck had a single and an RBI.  Wicks finished with two hits.  Schlueter, Reagan Pearson, and Sawyer Foster all had a single.  Ebert pitched six innings and allowed 11 earned runs on 12 hits and six walks with 11 strikeouts.
