Colton Shockers Finish 2-2 in Regions as Season Ends

The Colton Shockers legion team had their season come to an end after finishing 2-2 in region play.  Colton played Salem/Montrose/Canova on Tuesday, July 18th and fell by a score of 2-1.  The Shockers defeated Hamlin 7-0 on Wednesday, July 19th to keep their season alive.  Colton then played Elkton and Lake Norden on Thursday, July 20th.

Colton 5, Elkton 3

A four-run second inning for Colton led them to a 5-3 win over Elkton.  Elkton scored two times in the top of the second, but Colton’s four-run second gave them a 4-2 lead.  Elkton cut the lead to 4-3 after a run in the top of the third, but Colton scored one more run in the bottom of the fourth.

Braden Oyen finished with two hits.  Everett Althoff had a hit and two RBIs.  Cole Foken and Cody Lofswold both had a single.  Kaden Egger added two RBIs.  Carter Sorenson pitched five innings and allowed three runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Lake Norden 16, Colton 9

Through three innings of play, the game was tied 2-2.  Lake Norden then put together an 11-run top of the fourth inning to go ahead 13-2.  Colton scored three times in the bottom of the fourth and four more in the fifth to cut the lead to 13-9.  Lake Norden then put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Barrett Althoff had three doubles.  Sorenson had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Nathan Madison also had two hits and two RBIs.  E. Althoff had a double and three RBIs.  Focken had a hit, and Lofswold had two RBIs.  Madison pitched three innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on one hit and eight walks with one strikeout.  Noah Haynes pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts.  B. Althoff pitched one inning and allowed seven runs, five earned, on three hits and three walks with one strikeout.
