Colton Legion Splits Double Header with Castlewood

The Colton Shockers split a legion baseball double header with Castlewood on Monday, July 10th.  Castlewood won the first game 13-4, and Colton took the second game 5-3.

Castlewood 13, Colton 4

For four innings, the game was close.  Castlewood got a run in the top of the second and score remained 1-0 until the top of the fourth inning.  Castlewood got five runs in the top of the inning.  Colton then responded with four in the bottom of the inning to make the score 6-4.  Castlewood then pulled away with two runs in the top of the fifth and five more in the top of the sixth.

Cole Focken had two hits in the game.  Braden Oyen had a single and three RBIs.  Nathan Madison, Tyler Groenewold, and Cody Lofswold all had a hit.  Carter Sorenson finished with an RBI.  Groenwold pitched five innings and allowed eight runs, four earned, on six hits and four walks with nine strikeouts.  Noah Haynes pitched an inning and allowed five runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks with a strikeout.  Madison pitched an inning and struck out one batter.

Colton 5, Castlewood 3

Colton rebounded in the second game and built a 4-0 lead through five innings.  Castlewood got a run in the top of the sixth, but the Shockers got that run back in the bottom of the inning for a 5-1 lead.  Castlewood rallied for two runs in the seventh, but Colton shut down the rally to secure the win.

Lofswold had a double and an RBI.  Everett Althoff also had a double.  Barrett Althoff finished with a single.  Haynes and Focken each had an RBI.  Kaden Egger pitched seven innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on four hits with eight strikeouts.
