Tri-Valley Volleyball Hosts #1 Chester

The Tri-Valley Mustang volleyball team hosted the #1 team in Class B, the Chester Flyers, on Tuesday, October 8th.  Chester won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-18.

The Mustangs hung with Chester through the middle portions of each of the sets, but the Flyers made a run late in each of them.  The Flyers started the first set with a 6-1 run, but the Mustangs went on a 5-1 run of their own to get within a point, 7-6.  Tri-Valley was within four points, 16-12, but Chester finished the set on a 9-3 run for a 25-15 win.

The Mustangs took an early lead to start the second set, 3-1.  Chester tied the score 5-5 and then went ahead 9-6.  Tri-Valley responded and tied the score 10-10.  They continued the rally and went ahead 13-10.  The Mustangs continued to lead 15-14, but the Flyers again finished the set with a run.  They went on an 11-3 advantage to win 15-18.

Chester took a 6-2 lead to start the third set and extended that lead to 9-3.  The Mustangs scored three straight to pull within three points, 9-6.  That was as close as they would get in the third set.  Chester slowly extended their lead to 22-11.  Tri-Valley went on a 4-0 run to make the score 22-15, but the Flyers scored the final three points of the match.
