The Tri-Valley 16U team won the third game of a best-of-three series against Dell Rapids 14-8 on Monday, July 29th. The Region 1A game was held at Rickeman Field in Dell Rapids.
Tri-Valley struck first with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added four more in the third for a 6-0 lead. After Dell Rapids got a run in the top of the fourth inning, Tri-Valley scored three more times in the bottom of the fourth for a 9-1 lead. That set up a wild fifth inning.
Dell Rapids scored six times in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 9-7. Tri-Valley rallied to score five runs in the bottom of the fifth to get the momentum back and extend the lead to 14-7. Dell Rapids got a run in the top of the seventh.
Jackson Williams had two singles and four RBIs. Brechen Frederick had two doubles with three RBIs. Brody Dybvig also had two doubles with two RBIs. Treyson Richter and Kaiden Bernards both had a single and two RBIs each. Tristen Bunde and Parker Hemme each had a double. Alex Wingen pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on four hits and seven walks with a strikeout. Dybvig through 2 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
