The Tri-Valley 16U Maroon team won two games at the I-29 League Tournament in Humboldt on Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th. They earned win over Baltic and Madison Black.
Tri-Valley Maroon 11, Baltic 3
Tri-Valley broke a 3-3 tie with eight runs in the final two innings to take the win. After Tri-Valley scored two runs in the top of the first, Baltic got a run back in the bottom of the inning. Tri-Valley extended their lead to 3-1 with a run in the third. Baltic tied the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring two runs. Tri-Valley, however, scored three times in the fifth inning and then added five more in the sixth for the win.
Alex Wingen finished with three hits, one a double, and an RBI. Tristen Bunde had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Kaiden Bernards also had two hits, including a double. Treyson Ricther added a single and three RBIs. Jackson Williams had a hit and two RBIs. Denton Bicknase finished with a single. Bunde pitched all six innings allowing three runs, all unearned, on three hits and a walk with 13 strikeouts.
Tri-Valley Maroon 3, Madison Black 2
Madison had a lead two times in the game, but Tri-Valley rallied both teams and earned the 3-2 win. Madison Black scored the first run of the game in the top of the second inning. Tri-Valley tied the game with a run in the bottom of the third. Madison went ahead again, 2-1, after a run in the top of the fourth. Tri-Valley took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with two runs and then held for the win.
Wingen had a double and an RBI. Williams had the only other hit in the game. Williams pitched five innings and allowed an earned run on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Wingen pitched two innings and allowed an unearned run without giving up a hit or walk and also had five strikeouts.
