The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team is coming off a 7-4 season and an 11A semifinal appearance from a year ago. This year’s squad had depth at all positions, experience at every level on offense and defense, strong offensive and defensive line play, and a balanced running attack.
“Our guys worked very hard this offseason in the weightroom which has developed a lot of depth for us at very key positions. I believe we will have the ability to rotate multiple options to carry the ball and have the ability to get into a lot of different personnel groups offensively,” said head coach Derek Genzlinger, who is entering his third season.
The Quarriers return key players in Charlie Becker, Jackson Peppel, Connor Jones, Breck Evans, Cooper Cuny, Beckett Nelson, Mikhail Grib, Jace Brende, Scottie Carver, and Hayden Hansen. The team will also look to promising newcomers Straton Toennies, Carson Vanderwerf, Lincoln Anderson, Nolan Molskness, Mason Mergen, Andrew Schoeberl, Caiden Borns, Boden Mailey, Eli Gullickson, Micah Schmidt, Thomas Monroe, Zander Windorski, Camden Jones, Haiden Kaffar, Hudson Wolff, Knox Cuny, and Parker Wheeler.
“Defensively we have a lot of experience returning in the box that we will count on to stop the run on a consistent basis. Getting our defensive backs up to speed as quickly as possible will be very important for us. We are now in year five of this defense, so we should be able to hit the ground running,” added Genzlinger.
Dell Rapids opens the 2026 season at home against Madison on Friday, August 28th.
