The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team traveled to Sioux Falls to face the #1 team, the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers, on Friday, September 25th. The Chargers turned a 7-7 halftime score into a 28-15 win over Dell Rapids.
The Chargers got the first touchdown of the game with 3:43 to go in the opening quarter. They scored on a one-yard run. The extra point put Sioux Falls Christian ahead 7-0. Dell Rapids tied the game with 9:31 in the second quarter. Jace Brende had a four-yard touchdown run. Connor Jones made the extra point to tie the game 7-7. The score remained 7-7 at halftime.
Sioux Falls Christian scored on their opening drive of the second half. They had a three-yard touchdown run with 10:26 to go in the quarter. After the extra point, the Chargers led 14-7. Neither team would score the rest of the third quarter.
The Chargers added another score with 8:07 to play in the game on a 15-yard run. They would score again about four minutes later on a two-yard run. Both extra points were good to make the score 28-7. Knox Cuny found the end zone on a 48-yard run with 1:17 remaining in the game. The Quarriers made the two-point conversion for a 28-15 final score.
Dell Rapids had 148 yards of offense, 117 rushing yards and 31 passing yards. Sioux Falls Christian finished with 326 yards of total offense, 184 rushing yards and 142 passing yards. The Quarriers had four turnovers in the game.
Hayden Hansen was 4-9 passing for 31 yards with three interceptions. Camden Jones had a catch for 11 yards. Brende had a catch for eight yards. Cooper Cuny had one catch for seven yards, and Jackson Peppel had one catch for five yards. Brende finished with 13 carries as well for 53 yards and a touchdown. K. Cuny had two catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. Peppel had six rushes for 11 yards. Brende led the defense with 11 tackles, two of them for loss. Peppel had nine tackles and an interception. Breck Evans and Hudson Wolff each had five tackles
