Mudcats Fall in Quarterfinals at State Tournament

The 2026 season for the Dell Rapids Mudcats came to an end at the 2026 South Dakota State B Amateur Baseball Tournament in Mitchell on Friday, August 14th.  The Mudcats fell to the Clark Traders by a score of 8-7.

Dell Rapids took an early 4-0 lead.  The Mudcats scored two runs in the top of the second inning, one in the third, and another in the fourth.  Clark scored one time in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 4-1.  The Traders would take the lead with a six-run bottom of the fifth for a 7-4 score.  The Mudcats rallied late in the game.

Jake Goble hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 7-5.  With two outs in the top of the ninth, the Mudcats rallied to tie the game.  Goble drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 7-6.  Billy Stitz followed with another bases-loaded walk to tie the game 7-7.  Unfortunately for the Mudcats, with one out in the bottom of the ninth, Clark won the game with a home run to left field.

Goble had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Treyse Eastman had a single with three RBIs.  Austin Henry added a double.  Carter Gullickson and Kason Syverson each had a hit.  Josh Roemen and Stitz each had an RBI.  Syverson pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits and four walks with five strikeouts.  Landon Ruesink tossed three innings and allowed two unearned runs on two hits and two walks.  Goble pitched one inning and allowed an earned run on a hit and walk with two strikeouts.
