The Dell Rapids Phils earned a spot in 2025 South Dakota Legion State B Tournament with a 7-1 win over Volga in the Region 2B Tournament at Rickeman Field on Thursday, July 24th.
A four-run inning was enough to give Dell Rapids the victory. Volga scored a run in the top of the first for an early 1-0 lead. Talan Millage delivered an RBI sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the second to tie the game 1-1. Kenny Swanson added an RBI double, and Drake Eastman drove home two runs with a single to give Dell Rapids a 4-1 lead after two innings of play. Eastman brought home two more runs with a double in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead to 6-1. Tad Tjaden added an RBI ground out in the bottom of the sixth.
Eastman finished with a single, double, and triple with four RBIs. Millage had two hits with an RBI. Lincoln Fersdahl had two singles. Swanson finished with a double and an RBI. Connor Hanson had a hit, and Tjaden had an RBI. Eastman also pitched four innings and allowed an unearned run on four hits and four walks with 13 strikeouts. Fersdahl pitched three innings and allowed one hit and two walks with four strikeouts.
