The Dell Rapids Mudcats ended their Cornbelt League regular season with two wins. They defeated Salem on Thursday, July 17th and then Colman on Sunday, July 20th.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 5, Salem 4
A three-run, top of the ninth rally helped the Mudcats to a 5-4 win over Salem. Salem broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third. Dell Rapids got two runs in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 3-2. Salem pushed the lead to 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Josh Roeman pulled the Mudcats within a run, 4-3, with an RBI double in the top of the ninth. Travis Peters delivered the game-winning hit, a two-run single to left, with two outs.
Roeman had two doubles and an RBI. Peters had a single with two RBIs. Grant Olson ended with a double and an RBI. Austin Henry, Jake Goble, and Treyse Eastman all had one hit each. Nolan Burchill pitched seven innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Goble pitched the final two innings and allowed one hit and two walks with six strikeouts.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 8, Colman 4
The Mudcats took the lead for good in the top of the third in the win over Colman. Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. Dell Rapids added four runs in the top of the third for a 6-2 lead. Colman cut the lead to 6-4 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Dell Rapids would get a run in both the fifth and eighth innings.
Reece Arbogast had two hits, one a triple, and an RBI. Henry had a double with two RBIs. Chad Hunt had a double and an RBI. Burchill and Sutton Williams each had a single and an RBI. Ty Hoglund added a triple. Carter Gullickson ended with a double. Drake Eastman and T. Eastman each had a single. T. Eastman pitched five innings and allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Henry pitched four innings and allowed two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.
