The Dell Rapids Phils ended their regular season with a win over Volga, 8-4, on Wednesday, July 16th.
The home team, Volga, scored four times in the bottom of the first for an early 4-0 lead. Dell Rapids didn’t waste any more time offensively getting back into the game. They scored two in the top of the second and two more in the third to tie the game 4-4. The Phils grabbed the lead, 7-4, with a three-run top of the fourth inning. They added one more run in the sixth.
Cole Ruesink had three hits, two of them doubles, and two RBIs. Gauge Bunkers had two hits and an RBI. Mathew Nelson added a single with two RBIs. Connor Hanson had a hit and an RBI. Tad Tjaden, Lincoln Fersdahl, and Tommy LaVoy all had one hit each. Drake Eastman ended with an RBI.
Hanson pitched four innings and allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Talan Millage pitched two innings and had one strikeout. Fersdahl threw one inning and recorded a strikeout.
Dell Rapids will hosts the Region 2B Tournament Tuesday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 24th.
