Connor Hanson opened the eighth inning with a single for Dell Rapids. Talan Millage delivered a sacrifice bunt to move Hanson to second. Lincoln Fersdahl then hit the game-winning line drive to center field to score Hanson and give the Dell Rapids Phils a 3-2 win over Luverne on Monday, June 16th.
Fersdahl scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the second inning to put Dell Rapids in front 1-0. Tad Tjaden had an RBI single in the bottom of the third to make the score 2-0. Luverne scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 2-1. With the bases loaded and one out, Luverne tied the game, 2-2, in the top of the seventh inning on a fielder’s choice. Dell Rapids got out of the inning without allowing another run. The Phils got two runners on base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but they were unable to score sending the game into extra innings.
Drake Eastman had three hits, including a double. Fersdahl had a double and single with an RBI. Tjaden finished with a hit and an RBI. Hanson also had one hit. Tjaden pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and five walks with seven strikeouts. Fersdahl pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing two walks and recording one strikeout.
