The Dell Rapids high school baseball team punched their ticket to the 2025 state tournament by winning the super regional hosted in Dell Rapids on Wednesday, May 21st. They earned wins over Colman-Egan/Flandreau and West Central.
Dell Rapids 18, Colman-Egan/Flandreau 8
Dell Rapids scored in every inning, but one, and scored four times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule. Colman-Egan/Flandreau scored a run in the top of the first, but Dell Rapids scored two in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 lead. Colman-Egan/Flandreau tied the game, 2-2, with another run in the top of the second. Dell Rapids then scored four times in the bottom of the second, five in the bottom of the third, and three in the fourth for a 14-2 lead. Colman-Egan/Flandreau kept the game alive by scoring six times in the top of the fifth to make the score 14-8. After a scoreless bottom of the fifth, Dell Rapids scored four in the sixth to end the game.
Tad Tjaden had three hits and five RBIs. Ryan Brandenburg also had three hits with an RBI. Drake Eastman ended with two singles and two RBIs. Cole Ruesink also had two hits with an RBI. Connor Hanson and Cooper Frost both had a hit with an RBI. Carson Maeschen had a triple, and Jackson Peppel had an RBI. Ryan Stubbe pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed five runs, three earned, on a hit and three walks with three strikeouts. Eastman threw two innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Talan Millage pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on two hits with two strikeouts.

In the title game of the super regional, Tjaden pitched a seven-inning complete game and allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 18 batters. Dell Rapids scored two times in the bottom of the second, and then added a single run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
Millage had two singles and two RBIs. Brandenburg had a single with an RBI. Eastman finished with a double. Tjaden and Frost both had one single each. Peppel also had an RBI.
