The Dell Rapids High School baseball team defeated Sturgis for the second straight day on Thursday, March 27th. This time Dell Rapids got the win 12-7.
The offenses were firing in the first quarter. Dell Rapids scored two in the top of the first, but Sturgis took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the first for a 4-2 lead. Dell Rapids tied the game with two more runs in the top of the second. They took the lead 6-4 after another two run third inning. Strugis got a run back in the bottom of the third to make the score 6-5. The score stayed there until the seven inning. Dell Rapids exploded for six runs to extend the lead to 12-5. Sturgis was only able to get two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Cole Ruesink and Cooper Frost both had two hits and an RBI each. Lincoln Fersdahl had a double and an RBI. Talan Millage and Carson Maeschen each had a single and an RBI. Tad Tjaden, Connor Hanson, and Jackson Peppel all had one hit each.
Quinn Carr pitched 1/3 of an inning and allowed four earned runs on three walks and a strikeout. Fersdahl pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed an earned run on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Peppel pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
