The Dell Rapids Quarriers advanced to the SoDak 16 qualifying game after a 58-30 win over the Tri-Valley Mustangs in the opening round of the Region 3A Tournament in Dell Rapids on Thursday, March 6th. The Quarriers led from start to finish in a 58-30 win.
Dell Rapids made a three-point shot to start the game, and Tri-Valley cut the lead to 3-2, but that was as close as they would get in the game. Dell Rapids went on an 11-0 run for a 14-2 lead. They ended the first quarter leading 19-8. The Mustangs were held scoreless for almost seven minutes in the second quarter allowing Dell Rapids to extend their lead. The Quarriers led 34-11 at halftime. Dell Rapids pushed the lead to 45-21 by the end of the third quarter.
Dell Rapids finished the game shooting 49% (23-47) overall, 38% (6-16) on three-point shots, and 6-10 from the free-throw line. Tri-Valley shot just 26% (12-47) overall, 16% (4-25) from three-point area, and 2-3 from the free-throw line.
Four players finished in double figures. Lincoln Anderson had 15 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Tad Tjaden added 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Karson Paye finished with 13 points, two rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Jack Kloth had 12 points, 10 rebounds, an two blocked shots. Lincoln Fersdahl ended with two points, three rebounds, and three assists.
