Sweeter Helps PBR Qualify for State in “Last Chance” Game

Drew Sweeter hit a grand slam and pitched all seven innings to help Dell Rapids PBR to a 10-0 win over Colman in the “Last Chance” game at the District 4B tournament in Canova on Saturday, August 3rd.

Zach Puetz hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to put PBR in front 1-0.  Riley Hoffman added an RBI single in the second inning to increase the lead to 2-0.  Brayden Pankonen had an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to increase the lead to 3-0.  Sweeter had his grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 7-0.  PBR would add three more runs in the bottom of the seventh to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Pankonen had two hits and two RBIs.  Puetz and Beau Behrend both had two hits with an RBI each.  Conner Spindler and Chris Kropuenske each had two hits, with each having a double.  Sweeter had a home run and four RBIs.  Hoffman ended with a single and an RBI.  Matt Gillogly also had a hit.  Sweeter threw seven innings and allowed five hits with six strikeouts.
