The Dell Rapids 16U baseball team pushed their winning streak to six games after winning three games on three straight days. They earned wins over Hamlin on Sunday, July 21st, Garretson on Monday, July 22nd, and Parker on Tuesday, July 23rd.
Dell Rapids 8, Hamlin 5
A late rally gave Dell Rapids the win over Hamlin. Hamlin held a 2-0 lead after two runs in the bottom of the first. They remained in front 2-0 until the top of the sixth. Dell Rapids scored five times in the sixth inning. Hamlin tied the game 5-5 with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Dell Rapids got the win with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Jace Brende had three hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Carson Maeschen had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Gauge Bunkers added two singles and an RBI. Tommy Lavoy finished with a double and an RBI. Ryan Stubbe, Jackson Peppel, and Jack Paterson all had one hit each.
Dell Rapids 10, Garretson 5
Another late rally gave Dell Rapids a win over Garretson on Monday. Dell Rapids scored a run in the top of the first, but Garretson scored two times in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 lead. Garretson added two more in the bottom of the second for a 4-1 advantage. Dell Rapids then scored five runs in the top of the fifth and four more in the sixth to go in front 10-4. Garretson added one more run in the bottom of the seventh.
Peppel and Maeschen both had a single and three RBIs each. Connor Hanson had a hit and an RBI. Brende added a triple. Stubbe and Lavoy each had a hit, and Kenny Swanson had an RBI. Hanson pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run on six hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts. Stubbe pitched one inning and allowed four runs, two earned, on two hits and four walks with one strikeout.
Dell Rapids 13, Parker 2
Dell Rapids scored in every inning and never trailed in their win over Parker on Tuesday. They scored two runs in the top of the first. Parker got one run back in the bottom of the inning. Dell Rapids extended the lead to 5-1 with three runs in the top of the second. Parker again got one run in the bottom of the second. Dll Rapids would then score a run in the third, two in the fourth, and five in the fifth for a 13-2 score before the game ended on the 10-run rule.
Swanson ended with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Jake Heinitz had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Peppel also had two hits and an RBI. Stubbe had two singles. Bunkers had a single and an RBI. Kaiden Zellmer added a single. Brende and Lavoy each had an RBI. Bunkers pitched five innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on eight hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
