The Dell Rapids Phils took three more wins, this time in two days. They won a double-header against Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday, June 27th and then won a road game in Volga on Friday, June 28th.
Dell Rapids 10, Sioux Falls Christian 3
In the first game of the double-header, nine straight runs paced Dell Rapids to the win. The Phils scored three runs in the top of the first, three in the third, and another three in the top of the fourth for a 9-0 lead. Sioux Falls Christian scored three runs themselves in the bottom of the fourth. Dell Rapids added one more in the fifth.
Brandon Schmidt had three hits and two RBIs. Drake Eastman finished with two hits, including a triple. Lincoln Fersdahl had a home run and two RBIs. Treyse Eastman and Will Zwach both had a single and an RBI. CJ Smith and Quinn Carr each had a hit. Cole Ruesink pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on a hit and five walks with two strikeouts. Zwach pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 8, Sioux Falls Christian 1
The offense was strong in the later innings in the second game against Sioux Falls Christian. The Phils scored two times in the top of the first. Sioux Falls Christian cut the lead in half, 2-1, with a run in the bottom of the third. Dell Rapids then rallied for three in the top of the fourth, one in the fifth, and two runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 8-1.
Smith had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. T. Eastman also had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Sutton Williams added a single and an RBI. Ruesink also had a double. Tad Tjaden and Talan Millage each had a hit. Fersdahl finished with an RBI. Fersdahl threw six innings and allowed an earned run on five hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts. Millage pitched one inning and allowed a hit with two strikeouts.
Dell Rapids 13, Volga 5
A nine-run inning secured the win for the Phils against Volga on Friday. Dell Rapids started the game with three runs in the top of the first. Volga got one run back in the second. Each team scored a run in the third, and Dell Rapids led 4-2 after three innings of play. Volga pulled within a run, 4-3, after getting one in the bottom of the fifth. The Phils then scored nine times in the top of the sixth to secure the win. Volga did score two times in the bottom of the sixth.
Millage finished with three hits and two RBIs. T. Eastman had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Williams and Zwach both had two hits and two RBIs each. D. Eastman added two singles and an RBI. Smith also had two hits. Cooper Frost had a single and an RBI. D. Eastman pitched 3 2/3 innings allowing two unearned runs on two hits and four walks with six strikeouts.
