Dell Rapids PBR suffered a road loss to the Humboldt/Hartford Wood Ducks by a score of 19-13.
The Wood Ducks grabbed a 1-0 lead after a run in the bottom of the first. PBR took the lead in the top of the second with a five-run inning. The Wood Ducks then scored nine straight runs. They got two in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, and three more in the fifth for a 10-5 lead. Both teams scored a run in the sixth to make the score 11-6. PBR pulled within a run, 11-10, with four runs in the top of the seventh, but the Wood Ducks scored five more runs in the bottom of the seventh for a 16-10 advantage. Each team had a three-run eighth inning.
Matt Gillogly had four hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Zach Puetz had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs. Nate McKee also had two hits, including a double. Drew Sweeter added a double and an RBI. Riley Hoffman, Chris Kropuenske, and Riley Calhoon all had a single and an RBI. Weston Hansen finished with a single. Beau Behrend and Tim Whilhelmsen both had an RBI.
Grant Sweeter pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed 10 runs, seven earned, on 10 hits and three walks with a strikeout. Joe Rechtenbaugh pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Tanner Solberg also pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, five earned, on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
