PBR Walks off Canova at Home

Matt Gillogly hit a game-tying single in the bottom of the 10th inning and then scored on an error in the same play to help Dell Rapids PBR beat the Canova Gang 8-7 at Rickeman Field on Thursday, June 13th.

Canova took an early 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first.  The Gang scored three more times in the third for a 4-0 lead.  PBR tied the game on RBI hits from Drew Sweeter and Zach Puetz in the bottom of the third.  The Gang regained the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth, 6-4.  Puetz had an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth making the score 6-5.  Weston Hansen scored on an error in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 6-6.  Canova would take the lead with a run in the top of the 10th before Gillogly’s game-tying hit and game-winning run in the bottom of the the inning.

Hansen had three hits, including a double, and an RBI.  Puetz had two hits, one a double, and two RBIs.  Gillogly finished with two singles and an RBI.  D. Sweeter added a double and two RBIs.  Riley Calhoon and Chris Kropuenske both had two hits each.  Tanner Solberg had a double, and Riley Hoffman had a single.  Hoffman pitched all 10 innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits with six strikeouts.
