Dell Rapids PBR has started their 2024 season and are 1-2 in their first three games.
Dell Rapids PBR 10, Flandreau Blue Teal 0
In their first game of the year, PBR held Flandreau to just four total hits. PBR broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. They added two more in the fourth, five in the fifth, and then one more in the sixth.
CJ Smith had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Drew Sweeter had two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Tanner Solberg added two singles and an RBI. Zach Puetz had a double and an RBI. Sweeter pitched six innings allowing four hits without a walk and 11 strikeouts.
Dell Rapids Mudcats 15, Dell Rapids PBR 5
PBR scored three runs right away in the top of the first inning, but the Mudcats responded with 13 straight runs. The Mudcats tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the first. They then scored eight in the bottom of the second and two more in the fourth for a 13-3 lead. PBR had two more runs in the top of the fifth, but the Mudcats ended the game on the 10-run rule with two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Puetz had two hits, one a double, and three RBIs. D. Sweeter finished with two doubles and an RBI. Smith also had two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Conner Spindler had two hits as well, one a double. Will Jaton pitched 1 2/3 innings and allowed 11 runs, five earned, on eight hits and three walks with a strikeout. Beau Behrend pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on four hits.
Brookings Cubs 9, Dell Rapids PBR 5
On Sunday, June 2nd, PBR had a lead going into the bottom of the eighth inning. Brookings, however, would get six runs in the bottom of the inning for the come-from-behind win. The Cubs scored a run in the bottom of the first. PBR tied the game, 1-1, in the top of the second. PBR went ahead 3-1 after two runs in the top of the fourth. Brookings tied the game 3-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. PBR scored another run in the sixth and again in the seventh for a 5-3 lead before Brookings’ rally in the bottom of the eighth.
Smith finished with two hits, one a double, and an RBI. Puetz had three singles. D. Sweeter added two singles. Grant Sweeter pitched three innings and allowed an unearned run on three hits with one strikeout. Riley Hoffman pitched five innings and allowed eight runs, five earned, on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts.
