The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team built another big lead on Friday, September 29th on their way to their sixth straight win this season. Dell Rapids hosted the Beresford Watchdogs and cruised to a 38-14 win after building a 38-0 lead by halftime.
Cole Ruesink got the scoring started in the first quarter with a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown. Mason Stubbe made the two-point conversion for an early 8-0 lead. Ruesink scored again later in the first quarter on a 60-yard pass from Jack Henry. Dell Rapids led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Stubbe found the endzone three times in the second quarter. His first touchdown run was from 21-yards away. He then added a 19-yard touchdown run. The final score came on a three-yard run. Aiden Geraets made two of the two-conversion attempts, while Stubbe scored the third one. The Quarriers led 38-0 at halftime. Beresford got two touchdowns in the second half. The first one was a three-yard run in the third quarter. They also got a late touchdown in the fourth quarter on a nine-yard run.
The Quarriers finished with 253 yards of offense, 193 rushing yards and 60 passing yards. The Watchdogs had a total of 104 yards of offense, 90 rushing yards and 14 passing yards.
Stubbe finished with 12 carries for 101 yards and three touchdowns. Ruesink had three carries for 29 yards. Lucas Keener also had three carries for 23 yards. Henry had three carries for 22 yards. Henry was 1-1 passing for 60 yards and a touchdown. Ruesink had a catch for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Geraets had seven tackles in the game. Treyse Eastman had five tackles, including a sack. Ryan Baker and John Morturde both had five tackles. Mortrude also had a fumble recovery. Brandon Schmidt had four tackles. Sutton Williams, Drake Eastman, and Tollin Peterson all had three tackles each. Ruesink had an interception.
