The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team kept rolling through their schedule with a 53-7 win over the Chamberlain Cubs on Friday, October 6th.
Dell Rapids scored 30 points in the first quarter. Mason Stubbe scored on a 17-yard run on the opening drive with 7:49 to play in the first quarter. After that drive, the big hits came for the Quarriers. Stubbe had a 46-yard touchdown with 4:45 to go. Jack Henry added a 54-yard touchdown run with 2:57 in the quarter. The final score in the first quarter came on a nine-yard touchdown run by Cole Ruesink. The Quarriers converted three of the four two-point conversions for a 30-0 lead.
Chamberlain got on the board with 9:20 in the second quarter on a three-yard run and extra point. Treyse Eastman had a 20-yard touchdown run with 7:45 left in the half. Stubbe found the endzone again on a 42-yard punt return for a touchdown with 6:00 left in the half. Stubbe also scored both two-point conversions to make the score 46-7. The final score of the game came on a five-yard run by Stubbe. Cooper Frost made the extra point for a 53-7 score. Neither team scored in the second half.
Dell Rapids finished with 355 yards of offense, 320 rushing yards and 35 passing yards. Chamberlain had 103 yards of total offense, 65 rushing yards and 38 passing yards. The Quarriers were 3-6 on third down attempts, and the Cubs were 1-11.
Stubbe had nine carries for 103 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Ruesink had six carries for 79 yards and a touchdown. Henry had two carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Eastman finished with two carries for 27 yards and a touchdown. Henry was 3-7 passing for 35 yards. Ruesink had two catches for 27 yards. Henry had five tackles. Aiden Geraets, Drake Eastman, and Stefan Gillen all had four tackles each. T. Eastman added three tackles, two of those sacks.
