Dell Rapids Football Wins Big in Rapid City

The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team continued to roll in this 2023 season with another big win.  The Quarriers traveled to Rapid City on Friday, October 13th and returned home with a 42-15 win over the St Thomas More Cavaliers.

Cole Ruesink opened the game with a 74-yard touchdown run on the second offensive play of the game.  After an interception by Will Ronshaugen, Mason Stubbe had a 22-yard touchdown run to put the Quarriers ahead 12-0.  Stubbe added an 81-yard touchdown run with 3:22 to play in the quarter.  A made two-point conversion gave Dell Rapids a 20-0 lead.

The Cavaliers got on the board on the first play of the second quarter.  They had a 30-yard touchdown pass and made extra point to cut the lead to 20-7.  Stubbe had a 25-yard touchdown run with 8:11 to play in the half.  Another two-point conversion made the score 28-7.  Sutton Williams scored in the final minute of the second quarter o a two-yard run, and the Quarriers led 34-7 at halftime.

The Cavaliers got the ball to start the second half, but their opening drive ended on an interception by Jack Henry.  The offense capitalized on the turnover, and Henry connected with Ruesink on a 30-yard touchdown pass with 6:44 to play in the third quarter.  A two-point conversion run by Stubbe gave Dell Rapids a 42-7 lead and put the rest of the game on a running clock.  St Thomas More scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter and also converted the two-point try.

Dell Rapids finished with 417 yards of total offense, 368 rushing yards and 49 passing yards.  The Cavaliers had 184 yards of offense, 139 passing yards and 45 rushing yards.  The Quarriers had 16 first downs, were 1-4 on third down conversions, and 1-1 on fourth down conversions.

Stubbe had 12 carries for 178 yards and three touchdowns.  Ruesink had five carries for 126 yards and a rushing touchdown.  Williams added five carries for 21 yards and a touchdown.  Henry was 3-3 passing for 49 yards and a touchdown.  Ruesink had a catch for 30 yards and a touchdown.  Stubbe had a catch for 10 yards, and Tad Tjaden had a catch for nine yards.

Treyse Eastman had six tackles an two sacks.  Cooper Frost also had six tackles.  Stubbe, John Mortrude, Aiden Geraets, and Quinn Carr all had four tackles each.  Brandon Schmidt had three tackles.  Henry and Ronshaugen each had an interception.
