The Dell Rapids Phils will be heading to the Legion State B Tournament after another victory over Volga on Thursday, July 20th. The Phils defeated Volga in the championship game 11-0 to advance to the state tournament.
Dell Rapids put seven runs on the board in a hurry. They scored three times in the bottom of the first and then four more in the second for a 7-0 lead. Dell Rapids would add four more in the bottom of the fourth and then hold Volga to no runs in the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.
Treyse Eastman pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed just one hit while recording five strikeouts in the game. Eastman also had two hits and four RBIs offensively. Aiden Boechler, Mason Stubbe, and Sutton Williams all had a hit and an RBI. Jack Henry finished with a single. CJ Smith had two RBIs.
The win by Dell Rapids was also their 25th straight win after dropping the very first two games of the year.
