Zach Puetz hit a grand-slam home run with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to put Dell Rapids PBR ahead 5-0. Drew Sweeter allowed just one base runner in the top of the ninth, and PBR defeated the Madison Broncos 5-0 in Dell Rapids on Sunday, May 17th.
Connor Spindler broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh inning with a one-out RBI double to to right field to give PBR a 1-0 lead.
Four PBR pitchers combined for the shutout. Tad Tjaden pitched three innings and allowed three hits with two strikeouts. Brett Mogen tossed three innings and gave up two hits and a walk while recording four strikeouts. Riley Hoffman threw two innings and allowed three hits with two strikeouts. Sweeter pitched one inning and allowed a hit with one strikeout.
Puetz finished with two hits, including the grand slam home run, and four RBIs. Spindler had a double and an RBI. Weston Hansen added a double. HOffman, Sweeter, Jake Brandenburg, and Lincoln Fersdahl all had one hit each.
